Companies have rapidly adopted data lakes, viewing them as a complement or in some cases, a replacement for data marts and data warehouses. Data lakes have also generated a large amount of publicity as the bright, shiny, new storage technology for our big data era. Because more is always better, right? All this hype around data lakes has ignored their inherent drawbacks and limitations.
