Rumor has it that the upcoming iPhone 7 will have an IP68 rating, meaning it would be protected from dust and dirt and have water resistance support up to 5 feet for 30 minutes. Interestingly, Apple was also recently granted a patent indicating that it is preparing to make its future iPhones waterproof.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple patent #9,412,183, which is titled “Method for color balancing underwater photography.” The patent reveals an idea that would remove “undesirable tints” from the photos without losing the tint and color cues of the water itself.
