The horrific flooding in Louisiana has me asking, “Is it time for a flood scale like the Saffir-Simpson or Enhanced Fujita scale.” This essay is not going to answer the question of whether such a scale could be effective and frankly studies are needed to evaluate efficacy of existing or future scales.  However I do want to plant some seeds for discussion.
