There was a time, about 10 years ago, before the smartphone came into our lives, when Bluetooth seemed to be destined for the scrapheap of unwanted technology. Then along came smartphones and the ability to carry our music around with us wherever we went, and suddenly, Bluetooth came into its own. Wireless headphones and speakers began to take off. Now we take these gadgets for granted and few travellers leave home without a pair of Bluetooth headphones or a wireless speaker for listening to music in hotel bedrooms.
