The meltdown and explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Russia in 1986 resulted in numerous casualties, not to mention widespread radiation throughout the country and parts of Europe. Now, 30 years after the disaster, the site could once again be the center for energy production—albeit a far safer and certainly more eco-friendly one.
