Technology gurus around the world believe we are on the cusp of a great leap forward in AI or artificial intelligence. The excitement reported in a number of research facilities is a result of the advances stemming from deep learning, a breakthrough adaption of neural network technology that can recognize patterns in vast amounts of data then apply what it’s learned to new tasks. The Japanese government is a believer too and has marked AI a key technology to invest in with the hope of it becoming an economic driver.
