There’s a very fine line between leading edge innovation and bleeding edge pain. Over the course of its more than 100-year history, General Motors have often found itself dancing too far ahead of market and technology readiness with great ideas that just weren’t ready for prime time like linerless Chevrolet Vega aluminum engine and Cadillac V8-6-4. In 2016, GM CEO Mary Barra and her product development chief Mark Reuss seem to have taken those lessons to heart with a more measured approach to deploying vehicle automation and other technologies.
