In a previous post, I went on for a bit about how the cool patterns of water splashing in a fountain can be traced back to attractive forces between water molecules. The mutual attraction between these molecules creates a force at a boundary between water and air that tends to pull inward, which is what makes water drops pull into a spherical shape, and streams of water break up into collections of droplets.
