Every Time Nintendo Falls, It Bounces Back With A Vengeance

Five years ago I reviewed the book Playing to Wiin: Nintendo and the Video Game Industry’s Greatest Comeback, which chronicled the iconic video game company’s return to prominence after the massive failure of the GameCube. Well, if author Daniel Sloan is interested in writing a sequel, the recent smash success of Pokémon Go has already ensured that there’s enough material to fill another book (or two). If the sequel were to be written, however, it would follow the exact story structure and beats of the original book because, in uncanny fashion, this latest Nintendo comeback story is virtually the same as the last one.
