Fields that involve science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) offer some of the nation’s highest-paying, most in-demand careers, according to a White House report released in April. But women represent a mere 29 percent of the STEM workforce, despite an estimated 600,000 unfilled jobs in the IT sector alone.
