One of the biggest challenges facing both vendors and buyers of technology is how to solve the most problems with the least amount of technology. This is a timeless debate that has ebbed and flowed throughout the history of the software industry. At times, it seems like buying the best components and knitting them together seems like the best idea. Often this is the case when new areas are just being figured out. Later on, once the work that needs to be done is better understood, vendors offer integrated solutions that combine many components and services integrated together to make using everything simpler and allow many more problems to be solved.
