Star Wars: Battlefront had one of the most stark critical/commercial divides I’ve seen in a long time, with 14 million units sold as of earlier in the year but only a 73 on Metacritic: even the much reviled Call of Duty: Ghosts managed a 78. It’s especially striking because most reviews acknowledged that Star Wars: Battlefront is, on its own terms, fun. It was entertaining, it was pretty, it was well executed. So what happened?
