For the first time in wireless history, live trials are performed by mobile operators even before the standard is defined, however the onus is on the vendors to make the 5G business case. This early interest by U.S. operators (such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon) bodes well for vendors such as Cisco, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, Samsung and ZTE, among others.
