Met an 11 year old who loves Minecraft.
My girlfriend (27F) and I drove to another state over the weekend so I could meet her family for the first time. Out of everyone I met one of the coolest was her 11 year old cousin. I heard her talking about Minecraft with her younger sister and I figured I'd be humorous and chime in, make some conversation. Holy crap I opened a cool can. She was super savvy on all the 1.9 update stuff and we must've talked for like an hour about everything from the introduction of polar bears all the way to the wonders of optifine and how awesome redstone is.
I had a blast talking with her. She was one of the smartest people I think I've ever met. I wish I could have those kinds of talks about minecraft gaming with people my own age, but it always fizzles out and the subject changes.
At one point I saw all the adults talking about their thing, and I was like "ehh, I'd rather talk blocks with someone who knows what's up!" Haha, so I stayed glued to the couch and brought up biome preferences.
Anyway, as a 26 year old I thought it was pretty cool to have had an intellectual conversation about my favorite game with a kid who gets as big of a kick out of it as I do. It was a nice break from all the questions I'd been going over like what my job is and what my future goals are, etc…
Invited her to my vanilla server and she's all pumped to play after school on Monday. Made me a new friend.
It's a game for all ages I tell ya.
EDIT: clarified that my girlfriend is 27.
