Elon Musk deserves a great deal of credit for popularizing battery powered cars. Yet there are those who work in far more anonymity than Musk while exerting much greater influence on the long-term future of that business. One of them is Chris Borroni-Bird, who at GM developed the concept for a drive-by-wire platform on which different body types could be mounted, a key component in Tesla’s vehicle architecture.
