On Friday, Imax—the company behind the eponymous large-format cameras and theaters—announced the development of site-specific VR setups for the malls and multiplexes of the world. The announcement, which involves a joint venture with VR content and hardware makers Starbreeze AB and a nod to the recently announced Imax Google VR camera, also states that Imax is looking to leverage its existing relationships with Hollywood studios and filmmakers in order to “establish new VR content partnerships.”
