When Apple released its first generation iPhone in 2008, the devices used a 30-pin dock connector for charging and syncing purposes. Then Apple switched to the Lightning connector for the iPhone 5 and above in 2012. Now there are rumors that Apple will have wireless charging support for its flagship smartphone devices starting next year, which is most likely going to be called the “iPhone 7S.”
