Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1080 Is A Model Of Graphics Efficiency With Knockout Performance

Nvidia unveiled their latest high-end graphics cards for gamers earlier this month, called the GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 and it’s safe to say the announcement was like a virtual bomb-drop. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang made claims of big performance gains and new-found levels of efficiency at attainable price points for the masses. Not one to over-promise and under-execute, as it turns out, Jen-Hsun was not overstating the capabilities of the company’s new crown jewel GPU. With today’s official launch of these new graphics cards based on Nvidia’s new Pascal architecture, and from what we’ve seen so far at HotHardware, the flagship model GeForce GTX 1080 delivers the goods on all fronts in performance and value, but perhaps more impressively, at a performance-per-watt metrics we haven’t seen in the 3D Graphics market in a very long time. This is in-part due to Nvidia’s move to a 16nm FinFET manufacturing process with fab partner TSMC.
