Any regular reader of my column knows that I use a Chromebook as my PC. Several years ago, I was discouraged by all the Windows laptops and desktops that I’d used. Each lasted maybe two years, and attracted a lot of bloatware and viruses. I swapped to an iMac, which lasted for a few years. In that time, I had to replace the hard drive twice. The Apple Store’s “Genius” couldn’t explain why it kept failing. All I know is that it was expensive to replace. So for two years now, I’ve used a 12-inch Chromebook full-time. And I love it. It’s fast, portable and cheap. It simply gets the job done. I mostly use Google Docs as my word processor, but can also swap to the online version of Microsoft Word, when needed.
