As it turns out, a WW1 game was one of the best ideas we didn’t know we needed. EA and DICE upended the current trend towards fantastic and sci-fi shooters last week by announcing Battlefield 1, a trip past the series’ roots all the way back to WW1, where fighter aces will duke it out with zeppelins, where cavalry raiders charge Ottoman trains, and where players will get the chance to get down and dirty in the trenches with clubs and shovels. The crowd went wild.
