That well known image of female switchboard operators inserting pairs of plugs into a telephone switchboard dates back to the post war technologies of the 1950s. As we know, the humble phone call with ‘plain old voice’ is now augmented by video, chat, screen-sharing and collaboration capabilities — the operators are of course all long gone. So what is happening today in term of network modernization transformation to make this new era so-called Unified Communications happen?
