Cheetah Mobile CEO Personally Invests $50 Million Into Robotics

Cheetah Mobile has ambitious plans to go way beyond making mobile utility apps.
The relatively unknown Chinese tech company has been quietly building up a massive user base of 635 million monthly active users from over 2.34 billion downloads. Cheetah has benefitted immensely from being pre-loaded on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
In Q4, the NYSE-listed company posted $174.9 million in revenue, growing the overseas share by over 343%.
At Cheetah Connect Summit in Beijing, a $50 million investment into robotics was announced. The money will be used to create an R&D lab with a focus on deep learning and artificial intelligence. What’s more intriguing, is that CEO Fu Sheng is personally investing in the venture and will lead the team himself.
