The NX is coming out in March 2017. It may not be around the corner, and it may not be a for a little while, but it will come, and now we’ve finally got a roadmap for when Nintendo gets to leave the troubled Wii U behind. It’s been a rough few years for Nintendo: it’s had to watch as the strange little Wii U foundered first on its own, and then in the face of Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s ascendant PS4. The company had had an idea with the Wii that turned out wildly successful, but an attempt to apply the same sort of left turn logic to something entirely different proved a big black eye for the venerated gaming company. Despite some excellent titles and a strong(ish) showing from Nintendo’s first party studios, the Wii U just couldn’t hack it.
