Roughly a year ago, I wrote a piece called “Microsoft Makes Mobile Progress” where I interviewed Brad Anderson on what mobile cloud meant to the company. I’ve since had several conversations with Anderson on the space, including a lunch break coffee talk. At the time of my original article, Microsoft was struggling under the weight of the floundering $4 billion Nokia acquisition. It was difficult for anyone to envision a bright mobile future for Microsoft because the analyst’s market perception were so heavily weighted toward success in the mobile device landscape.
