In 1.9 there is a strange bug where if you hold food in your main hand and a thorns III helmet in your off hand with a pumpkin in your head slot and hold right click the thorns III enchantment will be applied without damaging the helmet. This means we can make any mob farm fully afk-able as long as the mob has very low health so the thorns can 1-hit it. I did not discover this.
