We need to remove our previous notions of ‘joins’ in the new data-centric world of business — so a graph database exists due to the ‘nature’ of the connections between the elements of the data inside it. A phone book allows us to look a person by name, but what if we want to look up other people who live on a given street… other people who go to the same bars and restaurants etc. A new type of data model is emerging and it has wide applications.
