HTC 10 and HTC Vive Could Revive The Once Mighty Taiwan Company

If you keep in touch with tech news, you have surely read all the doomsday prognosis about Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC in the past two years. “HTC is in deep trouble,” wrote Fortune; Digital Trends said the company was “barely breathing”; Wired described HTC’s 2015 as “an epic tailspin”; and Business Insider called it “worthless.” And none of those publications were exaggerating: HTC wrapped its third consecutive money-losing quarter just last month, dropping US$101 million between December 2015 to this past February. The Taipei-based company, at one point last year, had a market capitalization that was worth less than the cash it had in the bank, which literally meant HTC was, literally, worthless.
