In May 2015, Google launched a new service that let users upload and store an unlimited number of photos and videos for free. I immediately uploaded my entire 15-year archive of digital images to make sure I had another off-site backup of our family memories. For myself and millions of others, Google Photos was yet another amazing free service from the search engine giant. However, Google is a company that usually thinks bigger thoughts than rest of us and its photos service is likely playing a very important role in its ongoing self-driving car program.
