Cherry blossom trees – Why did we never get them?

I'd really like to address jeb with the addition of cherry blossom trees.

Dinnerbone once kinda confirmed them – but they never really got implemented. Cherry blossom trees are one of the things, I HIGHLY demand for Minecraft. Not only to spice up the environment but also to give builders more variety.
