In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping came to office touting “The China Dream” as his blueprint for the future. What was not well known at the time was that Xi also happens to be a mega-fan of “the beautiful game”– and part of the dream is seeing to it that one day the Chinese national soccer team is crowned World Cup champions.
