It was not an April Fool’s joke. NASA released footage on April 1st 2016 of a dust devil on Mars.  It is a cool photo. NASA’s Opportunity rover photographed the dust devil within the Endeavor crater. The rover was on a mission to investigate minerals on the Knudsen Ridge within Marathon Valley.
