The Oculus Rift is in the wild, marking one of the most significant technology product launches since the smartphone. Sort of. The Oculus Rift launched with shockingly little fanfare: no press conference, no launch party and, notably, precious few headsets. Only the very first wave of preorders has been fulfilled, and even people that ordered the thing in the first hour or so aren’t sure when they’ll be getting one. Right now, anyone who goes online and buys an Oculus Rift shouldn’t expect to get one before July.
