Smartphone camera performance has been advancing at a brisk clip for years now. From optics to image sensor technology, image processing engines and algorithms, with each new generation of device, the photographic performance you can coax out of a modern smartphone keeps getting better. In fact, it has been said that some day we may reach a point where the point and shoot camera’s days are number as a result, at least for the mainstream consumer that invests in a new smartphone on a regular cadence. I’d say that day is here actually, and Samsung just showed the market what a quality smartphone camera can really be capable of with their new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge series of devices.
