Most gaming notebooks / laptops from boutique “builders” leverage platforms from larger ODMs (original design manufacturers), like Clevo or Compal, among a few others. Larger manufacturers like Dell or ASUS typically make their own custom designs, but the economies of scale make it somewhat prohibitive for smaller players. That hasn’t stopped PC enthusiast favorite EVGA from giving it a go, however, with the intelligently designed SC17 gaming laptop, which was just officially introduced today.
