Accelerator programs which invest in startups and provide office space and mentoring have become popular among large banks and companies around the world.  Based on recent research there are approximately 120 corporate launches of such programs in the last six years.  More than 45 were launched in 2015 alone, the highest number of launches in one year.  2015 may have been the year of “peak accelerator.”  But the pace might be slowing down.  Since the beginning of 2016, there have only been five new corporate accelerator launches.
