$800 isn’t cheap, but apparently it was plenty cheap enough for a couple thousand people who bought every available unit in just a couple of minutes. Here’s HTC’s Shen Ye on Twitter: “Woah, more than 15k units in less than 10min :o.” It’s an impressive showing for a headset that some had said was too expensive to compete with the (still not cheap) Oculus Rift.
