Game of Thrones is heading toward a cliff where the books and the show are going to start to diverge in drastic, unforeseeable ways. Not just because author George RR Martin’s next books aren’t yet written, but because small changes the showrunners have made will become big changes later on, thanks to a sort of literary adaptation butterfly effect.
