After a weak guidance for 2016 leading to a more than 40% decline in its stock price, LinkedIn appears to be expanding in India, which according to the company is its largest market after the U.S. in terms of user base. The company recently leased a large space for a research and development center in India, three times the size of its existing Indian R&D center. In November last year, the company piloted its first India specific product — LinkedIn Placements — which is aimed to help graduating students get their first job. While the number of internet users in India is now higher than the U.S. and second only to China, social media recruiting is still at a nascent stage in the country with a huge growth potential which can be tapped by LinkedIn in future.
