‘Magic: The Traveling’ Breaks Geeky Game Out Of Comic Shop Prison

You can find him playing Magic: The Gathering on the beach, in the desert, or even on the red carpet. There’s only one place you won’t find Ben Ashbrook, 29, playing the nerdy collectible card game, and that’s behind closed doors where nobody can see it.
For the uninitiated, Magic: The Gathering is a fantasy game where players draw cards to cast creatures and sling spells at one another. Since its 1993 invention, this Wizards of the Coast creation has an extremely nerdy reputation.
That’s where Ashbrook comes in. The Los Angeles native wants to show how being over-the-top obsessed with a geeky game is not only cool, but infectious. Through his Instagram: Magic: The Traveling, Ashbrook shares photos of himself playing in bars, clubs and the Utah Salt Flats in a travel reel that’s half performance art and all passion.
