Boarding the plane this week on my way to TED2016, I remembered back in 2012 when I was sitting inside the Long Beach Performing Arts Center with tears streaming down my cheeks. On stage was death row attorney Bryan Stevenson. He was giving a speech about black incarceration called “We need to talk about an injustice.” He explained his passion for defending black inmates and the challenges they face relative the U.S. criminal justice system.
