‘Destiny 2’s’ Delay Is Probably A Good Thing

There’s a curious bit of semantics that’s been bothering me ever since Bungie and Activision’s “delay” of Destiny 2.  The thing is, while Destiny 2 almost definitely had its internal release date pushed back, that’s not really the same as a “delay,” at least as we know one from the consumer side of things. That’s because Destiny 2 had never been announced, and had no public release date. So Destiny 2 was announced with a 2017 release window, which everyone involved understood to mean a delay, but is regardless not quite the same thing. It’s a small point, but indicative of how communication both overt and implied works between a developer, a publisher, and a playerbase.
