Today, YouTube is launching its first ever original series as well as a few full-length films, both of which now put the company in almost-direct competition with streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu. Traditionally, the site has been dedicated to everything from music videos to vlogs to people creating their own short, DIY content, but now the company is officially backing and supporting the creation of not just videos, but original series and longer form pieces from some of its biggest names.
