There is a pattern I keep seeing in large enterprises when it comes to their cloud strategies. Many organizations are very concerned about being locked into a single public cloud vendor. To counter that concern, they refrain from using most or any of the IaaS provider’s managed services, or any services other than the basic compute, network, and storage. They say they’re trying to prevent a long reengineering effort if they ever changed providers. But is this just another case of IT wanting to be in control?
