Jada Pinkett-Smith made headlines when, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, she very publicly declared that she would boycott the 2016 Oscar Awards ceremony due to the lack of diversity in the nominations. She even went so far as to call on other black actors to follow her lead; filmmaker Spike Lee, for one, has already joined her cause.
