Three New Year’s Resolution That Every Manager Should Make For 2016

A few days ago I did a video on employee new year’s resolutions so it’s only fair that I do the same thing for managers. So here are three things I hope managers can work in in 2016. The first resolution is to embrace vulnerability. This means showing who you really are. Employees want to connect with humans, and not robots. The second resolution is the idea of pushing autonomy and decision making down instead of assuming employees need to push information up to managers. This concept is highlighted in L. David Marquet’s book, Turn the Ship Around. My third New Year’s resolution for managers is to create employee experiences. Look at the physical, culture, and technological environments inside an organization and how they can be used to create environments where people actually want to show up every day.
