Before I moved to my current law office in New York, for ten years I worked in Los Angeles sometimes working with people in the entertainment industry getting them immigration visas to work in Hollywood. I was particularly suited for this work because of my California (Hollywood), New York (Broadway), and Ontario and B.C. (Hollywood North) bar credentials. Even today, over five years since I left Los Angeles, I am still drawn to this interesting work. While many books have been written about how hard it is to succeed in Hollywood, few mention the significant hardship of dealing with immigration issues if you are an outsider. This article will outline some of the visas such creative people can employ to ease that burden.
