The Powerball drawing is tonight (10:59 ET, if you’re wondering), with an unprecedented jackpot of $1.5 billion and the hopes and dreams of millions of Americans all coming down to a few bouncing balls. Will you play? I will, though I can’t tell you exactly why. Do I expect to win $1.5 billion? Definitely not. Do I think that it is, in some way a distant possibility? There’s the rub. No, right? Maybe? I suppose? I can’t quite touch that one, because it lives outside of any logical part of my brain. Here’s a better reason: I like games, and Powerball is one of the most perfect games ever made.
