Schlage Sense: Bolting Into the Future

Based off the product pitches I’ve been receiving for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held in Las Vegas in January, there will be a huge push in 2016 for the Internet of Things — apparently coined “IoT” by people in the know. A major part of IoT comes in the form of connected homes in which products and appliances all communicate with a house’s Wi-Fi network, the cloud, each other, and to your smartphone and mobile devices. Some of these smart products are pushing boundaries of common sense — I don’t need my refrigerator telling my iPhone I’m out of milk, I’ll discover that after I pour a bowl of cereal. But for other smart products, I see great potential.
