2016: Where Will You Be During The Next Marketing Revolution?

At a recent industry event in San Francisco, a hallway conversation — which are almost always the best conversations — a conversation broke out about the history of marketing technology. We reached a quick consensus about what appears to be an historical pattern:  at the middle of each decade since the 1990s, the world of marketing has been rocked by a tech revolution. The first revolution, circa 1994-95, was the rise of the World Wide Web. The second, circa 2005, was the rise of social media. And, here’s the really cool thing: each revolution did two things for marketers:  to (1) democratize and (2) humanize the tools they use for engaging people.
