Most people aren’t aware, but right now a decision is being made in the copyright courts of America that could have huge implications for artists getting paid in this country. Internet radio services such as Pandora are compelled to pay a certain amount of money per play of a song, and the rate is set by the Copyright Royalty Board. Every few years, a panel of three judges hears arguments from both sides of the argument and decides what the rate for the coming five years should be.
